About FIA Rotary Skill Development Centre

Skill upgradation is a major initiative of the Govt. of India and we as FIA are playing our expected role to promote the same amongst our members. We had made a modest beginning in 2014 by establishing modules for Centerless Grinding and Welding with the financial and material support of our members. I am proud to inform that in a period of 3 years we had trained and placed over 200 unemployed youth with various industry members.

Centre set up and accordingly we collected nearly Rs. 50 lakhs to construct a Workshop Hall and with the active support of Rotary International, we purchased machines worth Rs. 53 lakhs to enable us to conduct training under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS).

We are now registered as a Basic Training Provider (BTP) by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India and presently we are running following Modules under the NAPS :-

Designated Trade

Turner (Lathe & CNC) 24 Months
Welder (Gas & Electric) 15 Months
Optional  Trade
Operator Centerless Grinder 15 Months

The inauguration of newly constructed workshop hall was held on 1st February, 2018. We have started our modules under NAPS scheme from February, 2018. Ever since then, we have successfully conducted training capsules in Welder (Gas & Electric), Turner and Operator Centerless Grinder modules in which near 300 students attended and they were provided gainful employment in our member industries.

Future Plans

Looking at the demand for Fitter trade amongst our member industries and as per the current market scenario, we are expanding the number of trades in our Skill Centre and introducing Fitter trade Module with the financial support of our member industry. The constriction work of the same is in progress and expected to be finished by September, 2022.

Inauguration of FIA-Rotary Skill Development Centre

Mr. Vipul Goel, Hon’ble Minister of Industries, Haryana formally inaugurated our Skill Development Centre (Basic Training Provider) on 10th June, 2018.

We have been approved as a Basic Training Provider by Government of India in the following Trades:-

  • Turner (Designated Trade)
  • Welding (Gas & Electric) (Designated Trade)
  • Operator Centerless Grinder (Optional Trade)

Under the scheme, fresher apprentices are being provided Basic Training for periods ranging from 3-6 months followed by ‘On Job Training’ in respective companies. The 1st Batch which successfully completed their basic training were awarded appropriate certificates by Mr. Vipul Goel during the inauguration.

Earlier, on arrival, the Chief Guest unfurled the inaugural stone and visited the Workshop where he actively interacted with the apprentices who were undergoing training.

On this momentous occasion Mr. Ravi Chaudhary, Governor, Rotary also inaugurated the FIA – Rotary Computer Lab. This lab has been created to train commerce students in a crash course to include computer basics, Accountancy, Tally and GST.

The purpose of the meeting is to identify the job roles required in the Textile/Handloom/Apparel Industries situated in the Faridabad District.The session was very informative for encouraging the industries to engage candidates in the short-term courses.
